Animals are one of the best things about this world. From the fluffy to the scaly, from the slimy to the leathery. From majestic, gentle herbivores to viscous, beautiful predators. A holiday is only made better by the sight of some of Earth’s most fascinating beings, and a few tiny pockets of them are so downright fantastic that they make the area around them a great holiday destination. So, here’s a short list of five amazing locations to go for safaris, zoos, animal spotting and observation of nature at its’ finest.

Antarctica

It’s true that Antarctica is a harsh and intense, but it’s no secret that the wildlife there is some of the most unique in the world. Filled with gigantic flocks of Penguins, fluffy Seals and massive Whales and Dolphins, Antarctica is a wildlife paradise. And, if you don’t enjoy the Animals, the stunning views and pure, white snow is sure to keep you entertained.

Alaska

Alaska is known as the “Great Land” for a reason, being home to incredible Animals from both land and sea. With fifteen national parks to choose from, each filled with everything from playful Beluga Whales to impressive Bald Eagles. The oceans are filled with fantastic sea creatures such as Humpback Whales and Dolphins, whereas the land is populated by Polar Bears, Grizzly Bears, Moose and even Coyotes. Plus, the views that the landscape provide are genuinely breathtaking.

Kenya

Kenya’s array of wildlife contains something jokingly referred to as “The Big Five”. It contains the Lion, the largest of Africa’s big Cats, the Elephant, the worlds’ largest land Mammal, the Buffalo, one of the most feared Animals in the world, the Black Rhinoceros and the White Rhinoceros, both endangered and the Leopard, one of the world’s most elusive Animals. Other than that, it’s got Zebras, Giraffes, Jackals, Hyenas, Baboons, Hippos, Wildebeest and many, many more. I think it’s safe to say Kenya is worth visiting.

Galapagos Islands

These islands are some of the most fascinating and beautiful places on Earth. Volcanic in nature, the Galapagos islands are filled with surprisingly versatile and unique wildlife, including Marine Iguana, Albatross, Galapagos Penguins and the world’s largest Tortoise, the Giant Galapagos Tortoise. But what makes the Galapagos truly unique is that it’s disconnected from the mainland, and never was connected in the first place, so each species that lives on the islands migrated, flew or even swam there, making this an undeniably interesting holiday destination.

Yellowstone National Park

This must be one of the most beautiful yet tragic locations on Earth. Yellowstone is filled with some of the most gorgeous landscapes on Earth, as well as having a unique and majestic handful of wildlife. The park is filled with Grizzly Bears, Wolves, Elk and many more bizarre and wonderful creatures. So, what’s tragic about it, you ask? It just so happens that the entirety of Yellowstone park makes up the biggest land volcano in the world. In fact, the super-volcano itself is so big that it spans underneath several mountain ranges. It gives the park a somewhat poetic, yet saddening nature, as, when it erupts, it will not only take the whole of Yellowstone with it, but America will be in a heap of trouble. It’s a somewhat tormented way of looking at it, but that’s what makes Yellowstone so undeniably fascinating, and one of the most worthwhile holiday destinations on the planet.

We hope you enjoyed reading this short list of places that you’ll enjoy visiting. From rolling, gigantic mountains to remote, rocky islands and white, barren icecaps, these locations include some of the best wildlife on Earth, and it would be a shame for anybody to miss out on these potential adventures.
