Will It Be A Staycation or A Holiday Abroad This Year?

In the UK, we’re all desperately seeking some sunshine. If the rain and the gloom wears you down, it’s only naturally to start thinking about booking package holidays to somewhere warm and exotic. However, there are also plenty of absolutely beautiful holiday destinations to visit in the UK – and for a fraction of the cost of flying overseas.

So, which will you be doing this year? Will it be an all-inclusive holiday in the sun or a staycation right here in the UK? To help you decide, let’s take a look at a few of the pros and cons of each…

Cost

When you factor in flights, transfers, accommodation and food/drink costs, as well as travel insurance and all those other extras, overseas travel is clearly the most expensive option. British holidays can be costly too, especially if you’re travelling far. Overall though, if you’re saving money this year – a UK trip is the one to go for.

Weather

So, you want to escape the rain and head somewhere warm. That’s completely understandable considering the British weather, but you don’t necessarily have to head abroad. The UK in the summer, and particularly down south in some of the country’s prettiest coastal and seaside towns, can be glorious. It can even be more comfortable for those who can’t bear the scorching hot sands of the Mediterranean.

A Different Kind of Holiday

Whether you stay home or head abroad this year also depends on what kind of break you’re looking for. If you’re desperate for sun, sea, sand and swimming pools, an overseas package holiday is probably the right choice – although don’t forget about some of the UK’s most beautiful coastal spots. On the other hand, if you simply want to walk, read, enjoy nature and perhaps take in a little culture or history, you can find all of this and more in the UK.

So, which will it be – home or away?
