Preparing for a long-haul flight requires crucial planning to ensure it goes as smoothly as possible. Although we don’t have a magic wand to whisk you to your destination, we have put together a little guide of useful tips to help make your journey comfortable, so that you arrive at your destination feeling refreshed and ready to go.
- Select your seats in advance. Book an aisle seat to ease mobility or a window seat for sleep. Seats nearer to the exit doors tend to have more legroom for stretching.
- Wear loose, breathable clothing which can be layered; Compression socks to aid blood circulation and easy to slip on shoes to make it easier for security checks and flight comfort.
- Pack a neck pillow, eye mask and earplugs. Most flights provide headphones for inflight entertainment and blankets, however, but be sure to check this with the flight provider beforehand.
- A little bag with essential toiletries will help you to stay fresh during your flight.
- Don’t forget chargers and even a power bank for your devices (check with your flight provider for any restrictions on such items).
- Choose your meals before the flight to ensure they suit your taste or dietary needs. It’s also a good idea to pack some snacks to keep your energy levels up in between meals.
- It’s good to adjust your sleep schedule during the days leading up to the flight to align with your destination’s time zone.
- Stretch and walk every couple of hours to avoid discomfort and improve circulation during your flights – be sure to wait until the seatbelt sign is off!
