Road trips are a load of fun. The wind on your windscreen, the soothing sound of the tires roaring across the road, the sights, the sounds, the smell of fresh air, those are just a few of the many things that make road trips a truly enjoyable experience. However, sometimes, it’s a good idea to keep a couple of items handy just in case you need them. Here’s a short list of items you could take on a road trip to make life just that little bit more convenient.
A Mobile Phone
This one goes without saying. In today’s day and age, not having a mobile phone with you is basically like not having access to Oxygen. Jokes aside, mobile phones are a critical piece of equipment to have with you, especially in case of an emergency. You’d be surprised how many different uses they have in a crisis.
Refillable Water Bottle
Water is probably something that you should keep with you at all times, which is why it’s a good idea to keep a refillable canteen or bottle in your car. It’ll keep your throat from getting dry, quench your thirst in an emergency and you can even splash it over yourself to keep yourself cool. It’s always worth having a bottle filled with water just for safet’s sake.
Blankets
There’s nothing like a comfy, mesmerising drive through the darkness of the night, watching as the orange streetlamps flicker past. Makes you sleepy, huh? That’s why keeping a blanket handy is always a good idea. In case you need to take a quick power nap, or keep the kids warm when they doze off, it’s a useful item to have with you. Plus, it’s incredibly snug.
Hiking Boots
As homely as your trusty vehicle may be, everyone needs to stretch their legs now and again, and get their exercise. Hiking boots are every traveller’s wingman. When the time comes to leave the vehicle and take a quick venture up the nearest hill, across the closest plain, or perhaps even to walk down the street to the coffee shop, a pair of trusty hiking boots can be your best friends.
Waterproof Coat
If you’re standing on British soil, there’s always a chance that it may rain. Nobody enjoys getting wet, which is why it’s a good idea to pack some waterproof clothes. Not only do they keep you nice and dry, but they leave your clothes dry to and, let’s be honest, what’s worse than sitting down inside the car with soaking clothes stuck to you?
Road trips are enjoyable and extremely entertaining to undertake, but it’s useful to keep in mind that anything can go wrong. But, with these trusty items at your disposal, chances are you won’t be running into any inconveniences along the way. It may seem like just another thing to remember to most but having them handy in a minor crisis is truly worth the effort.
